Now these two were the definition of true love

Vonne and Breland are the kind of couple that can withstand the test of time. Having been together for more than a decade before tying the knot, they have experienced it all. But when it came down to getting married, they went for the simple but elegant (with a splash of excitement thrown in) kind of event. Vonne and I have been friends since junior year of college and she has been telling me since then, that I would be the one taking her wedding photos. It was such a joy and an honor to have a friend that wanted me to be apart of their day like that.

So to start the chain of events off, Breland texts me in early April about flying me to Colorado to help him propose. Of course I said yes, but we had to work out the logistics. He was more than willing to help me get to Colorado and even gave me a place to sleep during the weekend. Everything was going smoothly, until I got a weather app notification. "16 inches of snowfall anticipated for the next 24 hours". Um what. This little island girl does not know how to handle snow! Let alone over a foot! But nevertheless, we persisted. Breland proposed to her in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, with a beautiful snow flurry coming down around them. It was cold, windy but oh so perfect.

Their wedding was absolutely beautiful, both the venue and the surrounding area. Near the venue was a cute little lake, called Monument Lake, where we ended up taking most of their pictures. The rain tried to stop us, but thankfully right when the reception was done, the clouds let up. The rest of the party was actually in Breland's backyard, which allowed us to go crazy with both the bounce house and the smoke bombs. Even in the moment, I thought these were going to be some of the best photos I've taken to date. And that was true. Please enjoy some of the work below!
